Sadly today it is more normal to think about murder. It is not socially acceptable but it something we see everyday in the twenty-first century. In the seventeenth century it was probably dispicable to even think about taking the life of someone else, especially a king. In America, we have had our presidents killed, and some for no reason at all. That is why today we do not react in such a way that it is shocking to us.

Mrs. Matysak, yes that is what I am getting at. We have even had murders in our small town, it's a fact of life we deal with all of the time. People murder for the heck of it sometimes, and even though it is hard to think about, it isn't as hidden from the people and it is becoming something we cannot avoid.

and thank-you for the vocabulary word!

I agree with Chelsea. Our society has adapted to murder and isn't particularly surprised when it occurs. Thousands of murders happen everyday and so far no one has found a permanent way to stop them. Therefore, a twenty-first century American audience would probably not find it surprising that so much murder took place in the plot of Macbeth. A seventeenth century English audience would most likely be appalled by the idea of murder, let alone multiple ones in just a short amount of time. Murder wasn't something people were used to in that day and age. However, as the years go by, it becomes more common and reoccuring.

Thank you Chelsea! It is a shame what this world is coming to in the sense of crime.

Haley, I agree. In the seventeenth century, Lady Macbeth wasn't even suppose to hear about the murder, and now there are women commiting murder. There is too much anger leading up to all these crimes and I really think we should do something to help this people do something other than act out in violence. Also, many medicines have negative side effects. Do you think the drug and alcohol problem leads to the high violence of today as well? Also, how many medicines we have to give patients?
