What influenced your decision the most to have the burning desire to be king?

Did you think about how it would affect your reputation if you were ever exposed?

Oprah (elliott)

What does Macbeth symbolize to you?

Why is Macbeth so stupid?

Your not questioning Macbeth Chelsea. You are supposed to be questioning Shakespeare :p

Okay, I will make two new questions then because I completely didn't realize that.

Was it hard to channel such an angry and mean persona when writing the character of Macbeth?

Why did you have Lady Macbeth be so evil when ladies were not even to speak or see of such things and she was doing them?

Tori

Did someone influence the way you wanted to portray Lady Macbeth?

What were you trying to say by having Lady Macbeth question Macbeth's manhood all of the time?

Alyssa

Why was Macbeth so easily influenced/controlled by his wife?

Do you see yourself in the character of Macbeth?

Thomas

If there is one thing you could change about the character Macbeth, what would it be?

Who were you thinking of when you characterized Lady Macbeth?

Where did you come up with the idea for this tragedy?

Do any of the characters symbolize people in your life?

How do you feel about Act 3 Scene 5 being added to your play?

Was the finished play much different then what you had in mind when you first got the idea and what changed?

Aaron

Could you have successfully written the play without the Three Witches?

If Macbeth had not grieved over his murder of Duncan, how would he have fared against his enemies?

Are the characters of Macbeth or Lady Macbeth based off of anyone in particular? If so why that person?

Where did you get the idea of Macbeth?

Janel - I LOVE that you ask him about the Scene 5 addition. Great idea!! I imagine that he'd be totally ticked.

As a class, you all seem particularly intrigued by Lady Macbeth. Why is that?

Mrs. Matysak, I think it is because even today when you think of murder and violence we still will have an image of a man in our mind over a woman. If today we cannot even think about such disgrace of a woman it is especially weird to think of such acts from a woman in this time period, when they weren't even exposed to anything unpure.

Thomas

Because she has the potential to be more dangerous than any other character in the play. She was the one that set the idea of killing Duncan into motion.

Why did you make Lady Macbeth so evil and persuasive?

Why did you make Malcom and Donalbain both abandoned the country when their father died?

Anonymous said...

Jade

Because she's so evil, and that's not what we expect from a woman. Generally the woman is the good character, and more in the background than a main character, but Lady Macbeth plays a major part here.

Jade has a good point on this one!

The two questions would be, if you had to go back and change one thing in one your plays, what would you you change? The second one would be, is there a character that you sculpted with your personality?

Jacque
-You paint Lady Macbeth to be manipulative and degrading, was she inspired by any specific woman in your life?
-What kind of feeling do you get when planning the demise of your tragic hero?

Anonymous said...

Chelsea Norem

Brenden, I really like your last question. That is one I would really like to know the answer too!
